Llandrindod Wells 2 miles
Post Code: LD1 5NY
The elegant spa town of Llandrindod Wells lies within the historic boundaries
of Radnorshire and serves as the seat of Powys County Council and thus the
administrative centre of Powys.
During the mid - 18th century, the 'healing qualities' of the local spring
waters attracted visitors to the area resulting in an economic boom. The town
further prospered in the late 19th century with the construction of the Heart
of Wales railway line making Llandrindod accessible from south Wales, the
Midlands and northwest England.
It remains a centre for tourism, visitors to the area are attracted by
spectacular scenery, renowned hotels and an 18 - hole golf course, which
features challenging topology and views over the lake.
In a 2017 survey undertaken by Rightmove, Llandrindod was voted the Happiest
Place in Wales.
