Two Story Penthouse apartment, with great views of a traditional Cotswold
market town
Description
The Counting House is an impressive Grade II Listed building which was
converted in 2008 into nine elegant apartments by Edward Blake Ltd, a local
development company with an excellent reputation. The apartment is situated
above King Charles' Highgrove Shop in the heart of this delightful market
town.
This exceptionally attractive accommodation comprises a communal entrance
hall, with a wide Georgian staircase, as well as a residents’ lift to the
second - floor landing.
The apartment itself is split over two floors, entering on the first level,
you are greeted with a light and airy entrance hall with beautiful Seagrass
carpet, that then continues for much of the apartment. A modern, recently
refurbished kitchen with a number of integrated appliances, including a five -
ring induction range cooker by Smeg, a very clear combination of work tops
including Granite and copper & and an under counter Smeg bar fridge. The
kitchen although modern in style still retains a lot of the traditional
features of the building, including large sash windows and lovely high
ceilings. Back across the hall is the living room with Seagrass carpet,
traditional sash windows and beautiful wall panelling.
The staircase leads up to the two attractive bedrooms both with en - suite
shower & bathrooms with built in wardrobes, the shower room in particular
being completely tiled in honed marble with underfloor heating. The third
bedroom, currently being used as a study, completes this second floor. From
this second floor position there are some truly wonderful views across
Tetbury.
A good sized landscaped communal garden is found to the rear with a garden
room for the use of all residents, including a summer house and covered
bicycle storage. There is rear access through a locked pedestrian gate leading
directly to Tetbury library. There are ample free parking places around the
library and market square centre of Tetbury.
This stylish property provides a secure base for those who may also have
interests away from Tetbury.
Location
Tetbury is a popular and lively traditional Cotswold market town, well known
for its 17th and 18th Century architecture. Historically, the town was known
for its wool market and more recently antique shops but today boutique,
hotels, and specialist shops, together with cafes, restaurants and bistros
have come to the fore. As a result there is a bustling feel to the town with
well - known shops now including the Highgrove shop, Quayles restaurant, Moloh,
Lola and Co Tapas Bar and the award winning Hobbs bakery. For more general
shopping there is a Tesco superstore on the edge of the town and, twice a
week, there is an open market under The Market House. Waitrose supermarket can
also be found in nearby Malmesbury.
Tetbury, once voted the third best town in which to live by Country Life
Magazine, also supports a splendid parish church which has been described as
having one of the best Georgian gothic designs; it has the fourth highest
church spire in England. Each autumn too there is annual music festival in the
church attended by international musicians.
Nearby is the world - famous National Arboretum which covers 600 acres and
boasts one of the most varied specimen collections in Europe, as well as some
17 miles of trails. Other recreational opportunities include golf at
Westonbirt and Minchinhampton, sailing at the Cotswold Water Park, motor
racing at the Castle Combe circuit and horse eventing at Badminton and
Gatcombe. There are also gymnasia in Tetbury and Malmesbury, as well as at the
Cotswold Leisure Centre in Cirencester.
Tetbury is particularly well placed for the commuter with Kemble station and
the M4 and M5 motorways all being within easy access. Nearby, larger
commercial centres include Bath, Bristol and Cheltenham, all of which provide
excellent shopping and cultural opportunities.
